Instead of writing a newsletter this week, I figured I’d share a great short film I came across a while ago, plus a video I made breaking it down from my now-defunct Patreon (more on that later).
It’s a 6 minute long, experimental, no-budget horror short film by Brian David Gilbert on YouTube. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch it below (ignore his spammy video title, it’s part of the experience lol).
I always get excited when I see great no-budget films like this because ANY OF US could have made this. The guy who did – Brian David Gilbert, has 1M subscribers on YouTube from making all kinds of wildly creative and weird videos/films.
But this is my favorite.
Here’s my breakdown of why I think it’s so effective and unique:
Hope this inspires you like it did me!
By the way, I officially killed my Patreon a couple weeks ago. 🪦🥀
Even when I was uploading videos every week there, it never grew enough to make it worth all the time/effort it took to keep running. Moving forward, if I want to make more films I have to start being ruthless about what is and isn’t earning my time and attention.
People can still join if they want to see a specific video for example, but it’s just an archive now – no new content will be added.
But since there was a lot of great stuff on there, I’m taking the best videos from Patreon and adding them to WRAPPED in 30 Days.
That means over the next month WRAPPED will get hours of new bonus content, including my 45 minute in-depth Patreon video on raising your rates as a freelancer, and a 1 hour video detailing exactly how to network to find paid work when you’re starting out.
This is the final week to join for 33% off and get lifetime access to the ever-growing catalogue of my best content, so don’t miss out. Join us today!
And big congrats to our member Robert who wrapped his FIRST EVER film in just over a month, and just received his first festival selection! 👏

This course gave me a framework for my first short film, while filling in the blanks for things I never would have thought of on my own. The templates, documents, and live conversations were invaluable! I'm soon onto my second short film!
Enroll now! Be prepared to put in the work, but you won't regret it. The community is awesome and very supportive.
